Beaches of the Big Island

Kahaluu Beach Park
Is a great spot for Snorkeling but does get extremely busy as it’s such an easy spot to get to see Turtles and Fish.

Magic Sands Beach (La’aloa Bay Beach Park)
Is a stunning beach cove which is great to swim at.

It is called Magic Sands because depending on conditions the stunning white sand literally disappears into the surf at times exposing the lava rock underneath.

But on a nice day this white sand beach is amazing to spend a day at.

Even though there is a lifeguard, make sure you take note of any warning signs as this beach can have a strong under-toe at times.
There are also public toilets and outdoor shower at this beach.

Punalu’U Black Sand Beach
Is a fascinating beach and a sight to behold with it’s black sand.

It’s a great place to swim and see Sea Turtles.

Ahalanui County Beach Park (Pohoiki Bay and Hot Spring)
An awesome massive hot spring pool to go have a swim in can get busy at times so go early or in the afternoon.

Please note: if you have any open wounds (cuts or scratches) you can’t go swimming as they could get infected (refer to signs posted)

Also try some of the handmade ice-cream they sell in the car-park if you have a few spare dollars.
