Flying into the big island of Hawai’i thoughts consumed me of ‘oh my god what have done, we are going to be living here for the next 5 weeks”.
Be it a completely different experience from the beautiful but touristy white sand beach of Waikiki, the big island held more than I could ever imagined.
Flying into Kailua-Kona Airport all you see is a hell of a lot of volcanic rocks everywhere, it looks desolate but soon enough you will discover the beauty of lava rocks.
There are mind-blowing lava tubes, the Volcanoes National Park is a must. We also went to the Volcano Winery up the road, which had amazingly different wines to try. I guarantee you haven’t tried wines like this before, but maybe unlike us do it after seeing the Volcanoes, as you can tell from our pictures my husband got me pretty sauced beforehand (hahaha).
